Documento técnico PumpTree
Vaca Muerta

02 / PROBLEMA

Una cuenca sin cortina de mitigación

Vaca Muerta is the country's leading gas and oil producer, operating over a semi-arid steppe with little native vegetation cover. Activity will keep growing in the coming years, and today there's no structured mechanism to offset that footprint at basin scale.

Emissions from every drilling well, the machinery, and the growing vehicle fleet keep rising, and the vegetation in the area isn't enough to mitigate these emissions for people's benefit.

On top of that, the province is in a water emergency; population growth tied to oil activity produced cities like Añelo with more water in demand than what's available. In turn, the surrounding soil needs irrigation to be reforested. This creates a cascading sequence of problems.

03 / PROPOSAL

Reforestation at scale, verified on-chain and by satellite

PumpTree drives the mass planting of native species, with fast-growing Populus at sites near treated water sources, around the perimeter of the Vaca Muerta basin. We aim to promote wastewater treatment and reuse, using precedents already proven in the country, which deliver two benefits: avoiding the use of drinking water meant for human consumption, while also cutting the growth time of an adult tree from 7 to 3 years.

Every planted tree plot is registered on-chain as a cNFT on Solana (Metaplex Bubblegum), with updatable metadata: GPS location, species, height, diameter, and estimated CO₂. This gives communities, companies, and regulators traceability that anyone can audit, at any time.

Registro on-chain

FUENTE 01

Biodigester effluent

Water treated through anaerobic digestion at biogas plants near the oil sites, rich in organic nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium). It's conditioned and filtered for use as a relatively low-cost irrigation source, reducing the need for fresh water on the forested plots.

FUENTE 02

Añelo urban wastewater

Population growth tied to Vaca Muerta produced in Añelo a growing volume of treated sewage water that today has no productive reuse pathway installed at scale. PumpTree aims to channel that surplus toward irrigating the forested plots around the urban perimeter.

The $PMPT token deploy happens on Pump.fun. The platform allocates a percentage (variable based on market cap) of every buy and sell transaction of the token, which goes directly to funding new planting, irrigation supplies, and plot maintenance.

Community collaboration & CSR

We want to bring in companies and organizations that contribute capital, fieldwork, and outreach, to keep the project active and growing over the next 5-10 years.

How the fees are split

No surprises here: this is the exact breakdown of the fees $PMPT generates, fixed in the token contract and visible on-chain.

50% · Reforestation & field operations

Directly funds the purchase of saplings, irrigation supplies, logistics, and maintenance of the forested plots.

50% · Project development & management

Compensates the developer who designs, maintains, and runs PumpTree, and any team that joins along the way over the years the initiative is planned to run. This covers logistics costs (travel and fuel), advertising, and paperwork.

This percentage is what makes that long-term commitment viable, instead of depending on token sales that could directly impact its own price.

This base of verified trees, backed by a consistent carbon quantification methodology, is what sets the technical precedent for Neuquén to eventually certify and trade provincial carbon credits, in a not-too-distant future. The long-term end goal would be for the province to channel funds into the carbon credits traded within it, effectively mitigate real emissions, and generate economic activity in the region.

06 / METODOLOGÍA DE MEDICIÓN

Cómo se mide lo que se planta

To know how much is being mitigated and confirm that every tree really exists and is growing, we combine three satellite data sources that complement each other, anchored to a public record on our website.

Vegetation, seen from space: we use images from the Sentinel-2 satellite (European Space Agency) to calculate the NDVI index, an indicator of how green and healthy each plot is. It's how we confirm, without needing to travel to the site, that the planted trees are still alive and growing.

Emissions, measured in the atmosphere: using data from the Sentinel-5P satellite (TROPOMI instrument) we measure the concentration of gases like methane over the region. This lets us size, with real data rather than estimates, how much needs to be offset — and compare that figure against the actual progress of the reforestation.

Surface temperature, with Landsat 8/9: the Landsat 8 and 9 satellites (NASA/USGS) capture thermal imagery that can detect flaring hotspots and surface temperature anomalies. It's a third lens that lets us contrast active oil operations with the real progress of reforestation in the same area.

Everything linked on the blockchain: every new measurement, whether vegetation, emissions, or thermal data, updates the corresponding NFT on Solana. That way, how much a plot grew and how the surrounding activity changed stay connected in one public history, permanent and checkable by anyone, no specialist knowledge required. This on-chain verification model is already used by reference projects like GainForest, a nonprofit founded in 2017 that has worked alongside WWF and MIT: it combines satellite imagery, drone data, and AI algorithms to confirm reforestation milestones in Indigenous communities in the Amazon, releasing automatic payouts through smart contracts on Solana — the same network PumpTree uses.

All of this runs on the European Space Agency's Copernicus program and NASA/USGS's Landsat program — both provide satellite data that's free and publicly accessible: anyone with a computer and an internet connection can look up the same images we use to verify the project.
07 / AUDIT

Everything in and out, in plain sight

PumpTree doesn't ask for blind trust: the project's treasury wallet is public, and anyone can check in real time how much came in from token fees, direct donations, or company agreements.

The same applies to expenses: every purchase of saplings, irrigation supplies, satellite monitoring, or technical development is recorded and available for review, with receipts.

All of this information lives directly in the Audit section of the site, organized into two views — Income and Expenses — so anyone, at any time, can verify it without intermediaries.

Every fee claim or FIAT withdrawal will be public, along with the corresponding transaction hash. Every movement of the project's money is reported and verifiable on-chain, without exception.

The team holds no tokens. The project depends on and is fully backed by the money generated by the token fees — there's no parallel reserve or team wallet outside this circuit.

Company contributions will be requested in raw materials, tools, and labor — never as direct money into the project's coffers.

Receipts and dates for every movement will be available on the site, for public review at any time.
